About Turbans…

A great alternative for warmer climate growers that struggle with traditional hardneck varieties. Produces well in colder climates too but requires late planting to ensure no top growth going into winter in extreme winter climates/conditions. Turban varieties really shine in climates with mild winters that promote growth all winter long and will outperform most other hardneck subgroups/varieties in these conditions. Produce large colorful bulbs with plump cloves that are the earliest varieties to emerge from the ground and first to harvested in early summer. Scapes and bulb harvests are weeks ahead of the next earliest subgroups and therefore make a great addition to market garden lineups. Many unique and lesser known varieties becoming very popular due to their exceptional flavors, extreme garlic heat and big bulb potential. Downside to Turban varieties, they have shorter storage life and should be used by the end of September. Use them up early and move on to other subgroups. Customer favorites include: China Stripe, Lotus, Basque & Chengdu.

Turban Varieties: Basque, Chengdu, China Stripe, Chinese Purple, Early Portugese, Lotus, Maiskij, Shandong, Thai Purple, Tzan, Uzbek & Xian.
